On December 29, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Sony Computer Entertainment America will introduce the first movie/game demo hybrid Blu-ray in the US with the release of District 9. The Blu-ray will feature a playable game demo of the PlayStation 3 exclusive, God of War III – one of the most anticipated video games of 2010. After successfully completing the game demo, the consumer will be able to unlock an exclusive making-of featurette about the game.
Additional bonus materials exclusively available on the Blu-ray edition of District 9 include a Digital Copy of the film for PC, PSP, Mac or iPod; the Interactive Map feature “Joburg from Above: Satellite and Schematics of the World of District 9,†which provides a highly detailed environmental exploration of the world through a series of interactive satellite maps, technology schematics and photo-real files that take the viewer deeper into the world of the film; and movieIQ, which allows viewers to immediately access continuously updated information on the cast & crew and explore relevant trivia such as production facts, music and soundtrack information all tied to scenes within the movie.

The privilege of experiencing the first-ever worldwide Live Community Screening (LCS) will go to owners of the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Blu-ray Disc. During the live event on December 12th, 2009, Daniel Radcliffe and director David Yates will answer questions as they simultaneously watch the movie with fans. Fans will also be the first to see footage from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, featured on the Blu-ray and 2-Disc Special Editions of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, available on December 8th, 2009.
The event will take place on December 12th at 12:00PM PST (3:00PM EST) live from London.
In addition to access to the multi-territory LCS, other BD-Live content available to Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Blu-ray owners include:
Exclusive introduction to the upcoming Harry Potter Ultimate Editions by Daniel Radcliffe.
My Commentary – fans are able to post user-generated Picture-in-Picture commentary over the film and share it with their friends and other BD-Live community members.
Live Community Screenings – Allows users to send invitations and have a virtual screening with friends and family while chatting together through the BD-Live platform.
Facebook Connect – allows users to interact with their Facebook friends, update their Facebook status while in BD-Live and invite their Facebook friends to Live Community screenings.
Warner Bros. BD-Live community members who have registered and signed up for the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince LCS will receive an emailed invitation to participate in the event. The first 100,000 members who RSVP will secure a spot for the screening.
