Sony Pictures Home Entertainment announced today that Cirque du Soleil’s Corteo will arrive on Blu-ray on September 23, 2008. Corteo is another triumph of Cirque du Soleil creator Guy Laiberté and is the first Cirque production to be released on Blu-ray Disc. Special features include a photo montage gallery and four featurettes that consist of “A Day in the Life of Corteo Artists,†a deeper look at the “Teatro Intimo†section of the show, a behind-the-scenes “Through the Curtain,†and a “filming-of†piece.
Corteo, which means “cortege†in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The main character is a clown who pictures his own funeral taking place in a carnival atmosphere, watched over quietly by caring angels.
